Izola is actually a typical contemporary Mediterranean small town. Attractive old houses and palaces surround the fishing harbour; the town's beach is located at the end of the peninsula – on the Petelinji Cape – and Hotel Marina, a typical town hotel, is located between the harbour and the beach.
